About Me

Whats'up!

I am Akshay Yadav, a Computer Science student at The University of Iowa. Very much interested in making iOS applications for the rest of my life. As a teaching assistant at The University of Iowa, I've taught Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery, Tableau and NodeXL. Soon I will be starting an online tutorial series in swift-2, and go over a few tricks I learned in iOS app development.

Projects

Some of my projects are:

  1. DoodleChat (iOS):

DoodleChat is the project I made for the hackathon at The University of Illinois -Urbana Champaign. With this iOS app, two or more users can share strokes made by touch gestures in UIImage in real time. I will soon recreate it in swift2, and publish after implementing my own personal Firebase. Here's the link to the git repo of the project: https://github.com/akshayadav/DoodleChat

Earlier, I made a similar Cross-Platform version of the app in HTML5. Here's a video demontrating the earlier version of this app. Believe me, it looks much better now... Shout out to Ray Wenderlich's draw pad tutorial.

This project was the winner at the hackathon.

  2. ChalkTheVote (iOS):

An Iowa City startup had an idea of a more interactive course management system for students and instructors, Just like what MIMIR is doing these days. I created and implemented the drawing feature, using which instructors/students can draw a diagram, chart, graph or any glyph in the app.

This app can be found on the app store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chalkthevote/id893391012?mt=8

  3. FlappyBirdSONAR (iOS, arduino, Python):

This project was my effort to support a local group to conduct a hackathon in Iowa City. I took the measurement from arduino distance measuring unit, and connected it to the bird in the flappy bird app. Here's a video of the project:

This project help me land an internship at ACT.Org

  4. TryIT_Forbes Magazine (iOS):

It is an iOS app I made for a Forbes magazine's project.

Since I do not have access to the code, here's a video of very-very early stage of the app:

  5. NumberTapTap (iOS):

A basic game I made, when all the tapping games were hot.

Here's a link to the git repo: https://github.com/akshayadav/numberTapTapObj-C

    Watch the game video here:

  6. I'mPacMan (iOS, Unity3D):

A Virtual Reality game for google cardboard, where you are pacman, in the room where you are actually present. Using Augmented Reality and a little complicated algorithm, I laid out dots all over the room. Player now goes around the room eating dots, while keeping distance from ghosts.

Here's a link to Unity project and the iOS build.

This project was also the winner at the hackathon (Purdue University).

  7. TheMoveMaker (Mobile Platforms):

An app to assist user with playing a checkers game. User takes a picture of the checkers board at any point in the game, and the app suggests the next best possible move.

Here's a presentation video of the app:

  9. CollegeMealPlan (iOS):

CMP is an iOS app I am currently making for a new startup in Iowa City. More details will be added as soon as we release the product. *fingers crossed*
